Intro to slipcasting!

Curious about how ceramic pieces are made using plaster moulds?

Come along for a hands-on introduction to slip casting and learn the process of creating functional ceramics using liquid clay.

During this workshop you’ll learn how to:

• Prepare and fill a plaster mould with ceramic slip
• Understand casting times and wall thickness
• Drain a mould correctly
• Demould a cast piece
• Fettle and clean your piece ready for firing

You’ll work through the process using a pre-cast cup ready for demoulding, while at the same time casting your very own cup from scratch.

If your freshly cast cup is ready before the end of the workshop, you’ll demould it yourself. If it needs a little longer in the mould, I’ll take care of that part for you after the session.

You’ll finish with two handmade ceramic cups, which will be professionally glazed and fired for you.

All clay, materials, glazing and firings are included. No experience necessary.
